K9 Division

Thankful to Emergency Response Apparel for designing our awesome K9 Division logo!

Some things just happen organically - in fact, a lot of FRCC developed this way. I started bringing Keagan to my home fire department when he was just a few months old. He developed a connection with the firefighters immediately. Keagan has always been a happy dog - we call him, “Keagan the Kind”. To see a grown man drop to his knees to pet Keagan or to be asked upon arriving at the station, “Where’s Keagan?” has brought a tremendous amount of joy as we seek to support first responders.

As time progressed, I got Keagan a vest - tactical of course. Then we designed a patch. Now we have an official logo and stickers (it’s got to be official if there are stickers!) I looked to outside organizations for “certification”, but none were a good fit. So, we trained him ourselves. He meets all the requirements of other K9 Therapy Dogs, but without taking us away from serving first responders.

This past year we officially launched, FRCC K9 Division, so we could provide animal support to first responders. He goes to departments to visit personnel, attends meetings and field trainings. He’s always greeted with a smile and loves to get scratches and snacks.

Recently, Wally, was added to the team! Wally is actually a cousin of Keagan - having gotten them from the same breeder in Williamsport, PA. Wally is a rascal, but is loving and playful. Wally’s nose is light because he got bit by a squirrel when he was about 3 months old. The fluffy tailed varmint latched on as Wally was curious about what it was - first time with a squirrel. Needless to say, Wally and Keagan loath squirrels and it’s their daily mission to eradicate them from our yard. Good luck, boys!

Keagan with “Wally” whose full name is, William Wallace, Duke of Williamsport. Wally’s a rascal and loves to play and run. He’s sweet and has much love to give.

Keagan Highland Warrior Prince, West Highland White Terrier.

Keagan is a West Highland White Terrier. He was born in Williamsport, PA. He, like other chaplains, continues training to be the best support K9 he can. You might see Keagan at a department drill or social event. He loves people and is very happy. His nickname is, “Keagan the Kind”.

In 2024, Keagan was joined by his good buddy, Wally. Wally is also a Westie, actually a cousin of Keagan! He’s still in training, but has earned his vest and name badge. You’ll see one or both of them around stations and events! They love pets but please don’t feed them, they’re working!

Recently, the boys have starting getting requests for visits. We do that, too, but only for first responders!
